BPO in Action: How Communication Technology Works

Virtual Private Network (VPN) setup and configuration as required for secure data sharing and communications

Procedural Steps for Creating the VPN Secure Tunnel

Requirements Analysis

Obtain the client’s Remote Tunnel Endpoint IP Address and subnet mask

Provide the client with the Sai Remote Tunnel Endpoint IP Address and subnet mask

Choose either DES or 3DES Encryption Algorithm

Choose either MD5 or SHA1 Hash Algorithm

Choose either HMAC-MD5-96 or HMAC-SHA1-96 ESP Authentication Transform

Agree on the Diffie-Hellman Group setting.

Choose a common Compression Type

Choose an IKE Key Management type

Select a Shared Secret Pass Phrase

Router Configuration

After obtaining the required configuration information, login to Talent Gurus’ Cisco router, enter configuration mode, and enter the correct IOS commands to implement the VPN tunnel. The customer will likewise enter configuration mode on their Cisco router, and will enter the correct IOS commands to implement the VPN tunnel on his end.

VPN Testing

After all configurations have been completed, Talent Gurus will test the VPN tunnel with the client to ensure that data packets are flowing correctly in both directions, and that the VPN tunnel is remaining up and stable.
